Tag Information: LANGUAGES
In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2008 the International Year of Languages to "unite in diversity and promote global understanding".
It is not hard to take things for granted - especially when they seem to have been around forever. However, languages cannot be taken for granted, and the fact that the General Assembly decided to devote a year to them supports this claim.
This page was mainly created for the completion of the IYoL Quest, but anyone who is interested in learning about the presence of linguistic issues in politics and everyday life is encouraged to consult the resources that are available here.
