Random Language Discussion!!
September 6, 2008 @ 11:47 AM

Feel free to discuss whatever you want about the International Year of Languages Quest in this thread, as it is for that.

In one of the steps you will be requested to make a trueee major choice with a basis on http://ymex.org/resources/view.html?id=96 . In case you were wondering, this is the thread to do so big grin

The two languages I chose
Ewe - a language spoken by five million people in Ghana, Togo and Benin
Xavánte - a language spoken in a region in Brazil

My procrastination
Video of a Xavánte tribe. The description says families produce their own food (base of the diet: rice, mandioca/yuca/cassava and maize) and live in harmony with nature. It was filmed by students who were warmly welcomed by the tribe that showed them some of their prayers and rituals, and in which only few spoke Portuguese (others spoke Xavánte).
