How can we as the youth make a difference and what should we do to help HIV/AIDS orphans around the world?

HIV prevalence among children under 15 years of age in Africa especially Zimbabwe has increased. While, UNAIDS has estimated that approximately six million HIV/AIDS infections occur each year, most of them in South Africa. Among which ten percent of these occur in children, due to mother-to-child-transmission (MTCT) of HIV. This is the tangible indication of the epidemic's impact on South African and other sub-Saharan African countries with the increase number of "AIDS orphans" who have lost and still losing both parents to the disease (UN Integrated Regional Information Networks). Thus, due to the vertical transmission of HIV/AIDS from the mother to child, one third of Africa's children would be orphans and to date, AIDS already has orphaned around 1.2 million children in South Africa (Terreblanche. 2001). The growing number of AIDS orphans and the phenomenon of bringing up orphaned children have raised the need for urgent responses, involvement and research. How can we as the youth make a difference and what should we do to help HIV/AIDS orphans around the world?

Many of us are thousands of miles and multiple oceans away from the AIDS epidemic. We know about it, maybe the science of it, we hear the numbers, but we can barely comprehend these facts, much less feel helpful in the fight against it. There is, however, so much all of us can do.
As a global community, we need to vastly expand exchange programs. Youth from other countries should spend several weeks or months in an African community affected by AIDS and African youth from that village should travel to other countries.
This has the potential to impact both lives in an enormous way. Real life education, about AIDS and about life without it, would convince both sides to fight against it preventively.

Sounds simple but need a lot of effort to do so. It's not easy to move or migrate youth frm one country to another. Specialley the youths from developing countries where there are many finincialand political problems. I guess the solution to this problem is hidden in the hands of the African Minorities.
Most of them didn't know what aids is they have merely listened about it by the NGO's what needs to b done is that the youth ot that place should be provided with proper information by there own people. Ngo's can train people there to creat wareness among the youth and kids since the youths have a developing mind they they can understand better. This will create a lot of difference since child merrages r also practiced in these socities then training the teens would b of a great use.
